What should every business website include?
Every business website should include a clear homepage that states what the business does within a few seconds of arrival, an about or services page with more depth, visible and easy-to-find contact details, a clear call-to-action (buy, book, contact), and basic SEO fundamentals like descriptive page titles and reasonably fast load times. The homepage carries outsized importance because most visitors decide within seconds whether to stay or leave, so it needs to communicate the core value proposition immediately rather than requiring visitors to dig for it, a pattern sometimes summarised as passing the ‘5-second test.’
Contact information (phone, email, physical address if relevant) needs to be genuinely easy to find, since its absence or obscurity is one of the most common reasons visitors distrust a business online, particularly for local or service-based businesses where customers may want to verify legitimacy before engaging.
Beyond these basics, a mobile-responsive layout, an SSL certificate (HTTPS/TLS security for the site), and at least minimal SEO setup (unique page titles, meta descriptions) round out what’s generally considered baseline for a professional business website today.
