What is UI and UX design?

Website Designing 1 min read Updated September 23, 2026

UI means user interface. It covers the parts of a website or app that people see and interact with, including colours, typography, buttons, icons, forms, images, spacing, menus, and visual states. Good UI design makes the product look consistent, communicates hierarchy, and helps visitors recognise what is clickable or important.

UX means user experience. It covers how easily and confidently a person can complete a goal, such as finding a service, comparing products, booking an appointment, or making a payment. UX design considers research, information architecture, navigation, content order, accessibility, interaction patterns, error handling, and the steps before and after a key action. A website can have an attractive UI but poor UX if visitors cannot find information or complete a form. It can also be usable but feel unprofessional if the interface is inconsistent.

UI and UX should be designed together. ViralBulls begins with business goals and user needs, maps the important journeys, and then creates a visual system that supports those journeys. The result should not only look modern; it should reduce confusion, build trust, work across devices, and guide visitors toward a meaningful next step.
