Which social media platform is best for my business?
There is no single best platform; the right choice depends on where the specific target audience already spends time and what content format suits the product. Instagram and Facebook generally work well for visual, consumer-facing products (fashion, food, beauty) because their algorithms favour images, short video, and Stories; LinkedIn suits B2B and professional services because its audience and content norms are built around industry credibility rather than lifestyle content.
TikTok and YouTube Shorts favour entertainment- or education-led content and skew toward a younger demographic, making them effective for brands that can produce fast, native-feeling short video rather than polished ads. Twitter/X tends to suit real-time commentary, customer service, and industries where being part of a live conversation (news, tech, finance) adds value.
Rather than trying to be active everywhere, most businesses get better results concentrating effort on one or two platforms where their audience is demonstrably present, measured by where existing customers or competitors’ engaged followers are concentrated, and expanding only once that channel is consistently productive.
